Grace Potter & the Nocturnals are set to premiere their starkly stunning video for new single “Stars” VH1’s Top Twenty Countdown on Saturday, August 25. VH1.com has the exclusive online premiere starting today, August 24. The video was directed by Philip Andelman (Beyonce, Jay-Z, Band of Horses, The Gossip).
The Vermont quintet has been rocking stadiums across the U.S. all summer as openers for the Brothers of The Sun tour, and now the band is ready to get back to the coveted headlining spot. GPN will bring their rowdy brand of rock’n’roll nationwide kicking off the fall tour with their second annual Grand Point North festival, a musical celebration set amid the unspoiled natural beauty of their home state of Vermont. The GPN fest, which will again take place at Waterfront Park in Burlington, is set for the weekend of Sept.14 & 15 (9/15 SOLD OUT). The Avett Brothers are the featured guests along with Galactic, Dr. Dog and the Sam Roberts Band among others. For the full festival lineup, please go to www.grandpointnorth.com.
Always open to new musical ventures, Grace jumped at the chance when enlisted to pen a song inspired by the upcoming Tim Burton film, Frankenweenie. While on a commerical flight from New York to LA, she wrote (and recorded the demo for) “My Mechanical Friend,” a dark, yet touching ode to man’s best friend. Soon after, Potter invited The Flaming Lips to collaborate on the song, resulting in a spooky yet whimsical production which can be heard on the upcoming soundtrack, Frankenweenie Unleashed! The soundtrack will be released on September 25. Potter also took time out to talk about her love of “the man in black” for the Johnny Cash Song by Song biography, a six part documentary that tells Cash’s life story through the lens of six of his most enduring hits, set to premiering Oct. 7 on Ovation.
Grace Potter & the Nocturnals released their fourth studio album, THE LION THE BEAST THE BEAT, earlier this year. The album, debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #17 and #10 on Billboard’s Digital Album chart.
