Warren Haynes new album with The Warren Haynes Band drops next Tuesday - 5/10/2011
If you're lacking in patience like me . . Rolling Stone has an exclusive first listen . . listened to it many times yesterday and just brought it up again.
http://www1.rollingstone.com/hearitnow/player/warrenhaynes.html
heads-up : open the player in a new window . . for some reason it shrinks everything to it's size
Information on the album and tour dates : http://www.warrenhaynes.net/about/
Good write up from Relix (http://www.relix.com/features/2010/10/12/warren-haynes-a-soul-man)on the path to this band and this album
From an email alert - besides Warren the studio band for Man In Motion is. . .
Ivan Neville -- background vocals and organ
Ian McLagan -- piano
Ruthie Foster -- background vocals
George Porter, Jr. -- bass
Ron Holloway -- saxophone
The album was recorded at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studios to two-inch tape with vintage tube microphones and everyone playing together in the same room.

The new Warren Haynes album was love at first listen for me. One of the best sounding albums I've heard. Planning to see WHB in Boston next Friday and again at Mt. Jam! :D
if u pre order the cd by 3:00 pm today (eastern time) u still get the bonus dvd from the North Carolina Xmass Jam, which was the first WHB show:
http://warrenhaynes.shop.musictoday.com/Dept.aspx?cp=484_42492&src=NEWS113558
and im seeing them next thursday at the Beacon! That show has been dubbed a "record release party with a special acoustic set" not sure where my seats are but they are definately in the first 10 rows of orch. (i was well out numbered by the group in wanting to sit in the upper balcony, and the orch tix are not crazy prices like ABB at the Beacon).
also seeing them at Mountain Jam and very hopeful big dog Jorma K will sit in with WHB at that one;)

Website allowed me to order - had to change Pay Pal credit card info because card was recently compromised and replaced - got to the end and had error message. Called number provided and was told if item number is highlighted, item is not available. [Will Pay Pal know that?] I started over again, and CD is not even listed now. Sigh.
Karen, they sold out of the poster/cd bundles and 2 rounds of tshirt/cd bundles immediately, so if they ran out of cd/dvds for the pre order after they sent out that last email (when i posted), i wouldnt be surprised at all. i'll see what they have at the "record release show" on thurs and if the dvd is there i'll get it for u. no promises but i'll try

eric, I so appreciate your kind offer (there should be a hug icon). But I finally was able to order!
Karen, that is great news. Glad both you and Joe were able to pull the trigger.
I will try to make my own Bonus DVD for you at the Beacon. I should be sitting pretty close. Only catch is, u will need a macintosh computer to watch it. unless i do a second upload into someone else's windows pc prior to me needing to erase the vids from my camera for something else (in a nut shell that gives me 5 days to find a willing pc to participate). so the windows dvd will be a "definate maybe" ;)
then we get Mountain Jam right around the corner. might need some auxilary flip cams for that one!

Man in Motion can be downloaded today (1 day early) from Amazon for $3.99. Just did it and all went well. Amazon seems to require that you download their MP3 downloader and sign up for their Cloud Player to store the files (not sure if this was all bypassable, but didn't want to take the chance and not get the files). Kinda seems wrong to pay so little for something so good. (Although I suspect Amazon had their motives in order to get their apps on my machine - always suspicious, but not complaining).
Warren's page will direct you to the right place on Amazon:

Trish: You can easily uninstall the downloader. They require it for albums only, and I've done it several times.
I wanted the actual CD, and this: Exclusive Bonus DVD, featuring the Warren Haynes Band's complete set from last December's Christmas Jam in Asheville, NC. Only $24.19 with tax. Plus I went a little nuts and ordered this also:
bobblehead (http://static.musictoday.com/store/bands/551/product_large/HAAM13.JPG)
apparently there is also a free secret record release show tommoro in the city that i just got invited to
i guess "secret" is a relative term. free is free though...for everyone including each of you, as there is a live webcast of tonights show which is a promo event for the radio station Q104.3. (Govt mule did the same thing at the same venue last year. seats about 200 people)
u can all join the party right here:
http://www.livestream.com/q1043?rsvptoeventid=402596&utm_source=website-home&utm_medium=promo-revolving&utm_campaign=q1043
i think it starts 7 pm.

Were you wearing a green shirt?
Was also wondering if that was you, Eric. Great show. Only caught the second half, but it definitely confirmed that Friday at the Orpheum is going to be incredible!
Haha glad some of u caught the set. Especially the second half, so nasty! No not me wearing green, I did try to steer clear of the cams 4 this one. But there were several of us in there as bald as a baseball so I could understand the confusion.
Loud enuff for madison square garden, but the size of the studio at webster hall. Next time-ear plugs! I was warned but ignored it...
The band is absolutley an allstar lineup. Pretty sure I've seen a couple of those guys in other bands maybe karl densons tiny universe? Was like a cross bewtween kdtu, mule and little feat. Hollaway is nasty and Ruthie Foster is the perfect touch. The beekin will be sik but I'm really looking forward to warren's festival- mountain jam. Look out!
Also-i wasn't sure if I effed up in posting the webcast, I guess I didn't...but it will be on the Q104.3 website in HD 2moro. Or something like that.

The first time I saw Ron Holloway was in 2005 when he sat in with the Allman Brothers at the Beacon. Here’s a video of the epic ‘In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed’ they played that night

That is sweet!
I hoping to coax that out of them when they play here in Macon, Ga on the 30th. Afterall it is Otis' hometown.
Thanks for that link, and yes that sax is smoking.

nice!
the show last night at the beekin was quite a treat as always. highlights included an as advertised acoustic set, the as advertised William Bell joining in for a few songs, and the unadvertised dual headed keyboard monster consisting of Danny Louis and Nigel Hall for a few songs, which was super cool, and i was 10th row right in front of that-funkadelics 2 the facial features! the acoustic set was a few songs Warren solo, then one Warren/Ruthie Duet, then Warren/Danny Louis/Nigel Hall...Warren/Ruthie/Danny/Nigel...probably the sikest part was when Warren and Ruthie did the "Grinnin in your Face" acappella (with microphones) duet. The songs with William Bell were really cool too. especially "Born Under a Bad Sign."
i could not record any video at this one. but there were a bunch of tapers so it should circulate soon. there is also a chance the show will appear on MSG TV at some point, but im not sure. my guess is it will, as Warren has played "close to 300 shows at NYC's Beacon Theater, more than any other artist" and the powers that be certainly appear to be fans. I will try to post the vids from the WHB appearance on Imus in the Morning from Tuesday (the same day as the other show i went to that was on the webcast)
also just have to say one more time how anxious i am to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals in the Beacon Theater. that place is just screamin for this band.
looks like you will have to click the links and go over to the fox news website

Last night's Boston show was awesome! They played most of the Man In Motion album and Warren did a really cool acoustic set that included 'Old Before My Time' and 'Wasted Time'. Highlights for me were their cover of Stevie Wonder's 'I Wish' and an epic version of 'Soulshine' :D

ah, you beat me to it Heath . . was just catching up to Sugarmegs recent offerings . .the May 14, Tower Theater, Upper Darby, PA (http://tela.sugarmegs.org/latestadditions.aspx) is up now too
Loving the Beacon videos Eric, thank you muchly . . also for the Imus links - Warren seriously killed on Your Wildest Dreams.
Reminder that Q1043 archived their webcast (http://www.livestream.com/q1043?rsvptoeventid=402596&utm_source=website-home&utm_medium=promo-revolving&utm_campaign=q1043)of the 5/10 show from the P.C. Richard & Son Theater. The video is about 1 hour 20 min of excellent vicarious living !
Love Man In Motion - it's rapidly becoming my most played 2011 release. So many good > great albums already and the year isn't even half over !
thank u Heath and TFN.
back to the Beacon for a moment, i actually almost left before the encore to catch a train...so i let that one go since it would have been close. right when soulshine ended i bailed hard and caught that last train i realistically needed to catch, i kinda figured that was all she wrote, but i just saw this (there was no way i could have stayed):
After an encore segment that included “Grinnin’ In Your Face” and “Soulshine,” Haynes mentioned that the band was going to break its set curfew for an additional encore. Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford—who Haynes has regularly collaborated with with —and Gov’t Mule keyboardist Danny Louis then both emerged for “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home.” -relix.com
