I was lucky enough to meet Benny today. He is a very down to earth individual.
ive met Benny 2 or 3 times and although they were very brief meetings, he was totally cool every time. u wouldnt guess he is in a rock band such as GPN. (same for Scott, and i never really met Matt but he said whats up and was being cool to other fans)
Benny is on twitter u can stalk him there

I met Benny in 2010 when Grace and the Nocs played Louisville. when i saw him out in front of Headliners I just yelled out "rock and roll!!" he laughed and said thanks. He was meeting up with someone he knew or something so I didn't hang around too long. I asked him if his Les paul was an R9 and he asked me what I meant and I said a reissue '59 Les Paul and he said "yeah it is". Great sound and he head bangs like a mad man and is always cheerful.
This year topped my expectations for many reasons. Matt was all smiles and cool as cool can be at the meet and greet. What a great group of musicians that are on the rise. Cherish these times folks cause I have a feeling they will be few and far in the near future. Peace all.

It's been such a pleasure to follow this band for a few years, and experience the warmth and wackiness of this group on some of the meet and greets that have been done over the years. Each year I expect them to soar into the stratosphere and have felt that thought that DHB voiced above more than once. They are soaring, that's for sure, but it's so wonderful that there are still moments when it is appropriate and they can and do connect personally with fans. It does mean so much, doesn't it?

Twitter makes a nice connection, too. Not one-to-one, but offers insights - personalities come through in answers to fans and everyday comments.
Sample Benny tweet from 6/14 - "Beautiful night in Burlington. Watching the @phish webcast from my livingroom w/my bro!" - paints a sweet picture.
I asked him if his Les paul was an R9 and he asked me what I meant and I said a reissue '59 Les Paul and he said "yeah it is".
the one time i met Benny he had the Gibson double-neck right in his hand! that thing is a monster. also he posted something on twitter the other day about liking old Gibsons from the 50's...hence ur above quote. i wonder if his hollow body is an oldie. it looks old, sounds sik. he also posted he has an old Martin from the 60's
his SG is def original (and so its Scott's)
from the "Laser facts man" on the Blues and Lasers site-
benny yurco has a 1961 sg/les paul custom 3 pick-up w maestro trem and scott has a 1974 sg pro w/ bigsby
and how about those Fender amps? orig 60s-70s i would guess as well.
and Cat's bass is a '66 and the Hammond/Leslie i can only guess is from the same time period, or before.
i guess thats just how they roll. bunch of classic ballers. i think Bennys SG/LP is super sweetness...maybe one day they will make a reissue based on his playing one making it popular and/or Benny requesting a couple new ones for himself? that would be sik. id also like to see Benny play some Black Sabath tunes, with any guitar. later

For anyone feeling a little guilty about GPN unofficial videos after learning of the camera policy, seems Benny doesn't mind - from Twitter:

Of course. No better way to fix your mistakes for the next gig. RT "@wheatgrower: @BennyYurco Do you ever watch YouTube videos of yourself?"
