I have been considering the Charlotte show on 8/26 since i can get free or very cheap plane tix and the airport is only 5 miles from the venue, and its on a friday. this would be a kamikaze mission that would involve going directly to the show and back, no hotel. only problem is the flight back would be 6 AM. i probably wont do it but i might. so here are my questions-

What time do the bars/downtown Charlotte close down on a friday night (sat AM)?

Is the airport open all night (24 hours)?

Karen J-i tried to send you a PM for this info, but it looks like it can't be done. maybe check your settings or something if u want that option.

any info from anyone is appreciated!

North Carolina law says that they can't serve alcohol after 2 AM. It takes most of them 30 minutes to an hour to clear out.

The best bars downtown are more or less clustered around the Hearst Tower (within 2 blocks), just a short cab ride from the Fillmore. Just don't get too close to the city bus transfer station at E. Trade and Brevard. That's where all the bad shit goes down late at night.

There is good food nearby on North Tryon Street, including Rock Bottom and Fox & Hound, but I wouldn't try walking to the Fillmore from there (or anywhere else), day or night. It won't be hard to get a taxi.

Being a major hub, it never closes, but you may have to run from the cleaning crew and their loud vacuum cleaners if you want to sleep on a row of seats at a gate. They may get in 2 or 3 red-eye flights after you get there, which is nothing in a huge building like that one; almost as big as La Guardia.

Fixed. Sorry about that. Maybe somebody else will want to go to Charlotte too, so the thread may not be a waste.
