Dana Fuchs Band?

I've been promoting GPN on a few other bands' message boards. A Who friend recently posted, if you like GPN, you should check out the Dana Fuchs Band. She just performed at the Telluride Blues Festival. She sounds a ton like Janis Joplin, and even played Janis on the off-Broadway play "Love Janis". Anyone ever see Dana?

Not likely... The last 3 years they have toured almost exclusively in Europe. Very few US appearances. I personally insist on a band that tours some. I would not waste my time following them.

I saw Dana at at Telluride on the main stage Friday and later that night at the Fly Me To The Moon Saloon. Both shows were mind-blowing! She made it clear from the stage that she was 'dying to tour' the US and planning on it a lot more next year as she has a new album coming out.

Dana Fuchs Band does sound good, and may have the same problem many other blues bands (and others for that matter) seem to have here, and that is a lack of appreciation, and failure to be able to obtain enough gigs to really tour properly. When I was introduced to Lissie on the old GPN fan site last spring, I started watching her, and she has toured madly in Europe since then. She has a few US gigs lined up (I am going to the Troubadour in Hollywood Oct 7th), but not a lot. She is in the US in Oct, but right back to Europe in November. She has 36,000 fans on FB, which is where GPN was just 2-3 months ago. Most are obviously in Europe I guess.

Remembered this discussion when I saw Dana's name come up on a list of shows scheduled at a new music venue in my hometown. Unfortunately, both shows near me happen on dates when I'll be away so I won't be able to check them out. There are a number of US dates on their tour schedule for this spring, so I thought I'd pass on the info for those interested:

checked danas' tour schedule, they are set for the WAKARUSA event, so it will be Dana meet Grace and throw it down. So many great shows comming up and so little time and bucks to take it all it, such is life.
