Have you asked Van? He's been out here a few times, so probably would know some spots. As I don't live in the city, I wouldn't really know. I take it you're coming out for the show though?

we stayed at the Hilton on Union square: http://www.hiltonsanfranciscohotel.com/
(we'll be back there for the Radiators final run at Great American Music Hall in April.)
search on line with hotels.com and other sites and you usually can stay there for a little more than
half of rack rate. never pay retail. be careful of some cheaper hotels in the "tenderloin" area unless you're feeling
adventuresome....
