does Grace & The Nocturnals usually sign merch after after the show?
(always? sometimes? never? )
The 01/16 show at The Varsity Theater - Minneapolis is my 1st show,
1st of many I anticipate.
I have 3 CD's and a poster off e-bay that I'm hoping they will sign.
Am I delusional?

GPN are great to their fans. While nothing is guaranteed, I'm betting you will get something signed by someone in the band. Just be patient after the show. Good luck.

Thanks for the response 'MG'! My post was kind of a silly one, but I just had to ask anyway. It's apparent that GP&N have built a very loyal grassroots following/fanbase thru close, & routine interaction with 'the peeps'. It's so astounding to me that this band has escaped my radar just until recently. I keep repeating that, but it's the the truth! I'm sure you long-time hardcore's have heard that one before.......many times! It's even more astonishing that an act with so much talent frightens commercial radio, not to mention even a Minnesota PUBLIC Radio 'stick' in the Twin Cities, but I digress.
(I'll be working on them more in the future) :-)
I plan on arriving very early on 1/16 (before soundcheck), and staying extra late if need be. I'll be thrilled if Grace sign's my stuff. I don't sell my stuff on E-Bay, for it is proudly displayed on my walls. My #1 prized possession - signed B/W Neil Young promo glossy - circa 1993.
Thanks again!

Enjoy the show guys and welcome to you Rachel! I've been lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to enjoy meeting members of the band on a number of occasions, and then there have been nights when they are just whisked away. As Carla so rightly said - nothing is ever guaranteed, but if you are lucky enough to time it right, you will find that the band members are genuinely kind and interested and generous with giving a word or a signature if they can.
Wishing you good luck as well and a great show - although, I really don't have to do that - as Tipi says - every show is the best - until the next one!
guys dont take it personally if u dont meet the band, they are off to a grueling road schedule and likely rollin out of that town right to the next city when that show ends. sometimes they linger but there will be a lot going on as always. its just dumb luck when u bump into one of them after the show, dont "try too hard."
just my opinion but much better luck having a nocturnal encounter hanging in/around the venue on the early crew, look around in the audience or at the bar during the opening band, or even before the opening band starts. sounds crazy but youd be suprised what u might find. certainly not every night, its just a matter of chance but they cruise around a little sometimes. in nantucket i was in there during soundcheck for blues and lasers so that was super loose...
Everyone in the band is really cool and u are lucky if you meet any of them. nothing is better than seeing them perform on the stage though, just dont forget that. have a great show everyone and safe travels to GPN-they are t minus 48 hours from the tour opener in Kentucky!

i would say that under just about all circumstances, yes, u r delusional if u think the entire band is signing 3 cds and a poster unless there is some sort of official meet and greet set up, and even then 4 signatures just from Grace Potter alone would basically be a grand slam. no way id be bringing all that stuff into a sold out GPN show. if u meet them grab a poster from the merch table or even a handbill/poster off the wall of the venue and ask them to sign it. i dont even want to know what poster u bought on ebay or how much u paid for it but dont bring it out with u to the show! thats crazy. leave the cds at home too. pik up a new one at the merch table... it will fit in your pocket. then if u meet them break it out and rip off the shrink-wrap in front of them, and ask them to sign it. they would be stoked if u bought one at the show and did that! its just luck though

Very cool Rachel! BTW.....I've already contacted (twice) the Director of Rochester Civic Music and suggested they book GP&N for the annual summer Riverside Concert Series. you can reach them directly via http://www.riversideconcerts.com CONTACTS....drop them an e-mail........it couldn't hurt!

Hey guys,
Have an awesome time at the show! I gave my sister and brother-in-law MN tix for Christmas. They are going to have a wonderful time! I'm from VT and I've been lucky enough to see them several times. I've heard good things about the Varsity Theater venue. Wish I was going to be there and I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather.
