My brother posted this article on a study on music's effect of the brain.

Nice article on the effects of music on the brain. I love that music can evoke emotion, its a powerful thing.

Interesting article. I don't understand Barber's "Adagio For Strings" being a favorite, however. It's one of the most depressing classical pieces, even without connection to the movie "Platoon."
Linking it here, but I wouldn't watch it if you want to stay happy - Barber/Platoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxVkXj26qds)

Thanks for sharing! The relationship between music and the brain is unreal, and so interesting. I'm a research assistant for the researcher who developed Melodic Intonation Therapy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melodic_intonation_therapy), and have thus learned a great deal about it, but for me the most amazing thing was seeing a patient sing with fluency who otherwise spoke non-fluent.

Agreed! And in the meantime, I've found myself going back to my copies of the Waterfront Show and playing them on repeat for the last couple weeks!

My favorite CD of all time. Nothing but the Water is tied for 2nd on my list (with Paint the Town by The Push Stars).
