wow! should be good times all around Milwaukee that night if the Pack gets a win in Atlanta. Since the kickoff isn't likely until after 7:00 local time, hopefully the Hall has TVs available so folks can enjoy both the game and Chamberlin. Maybe in a diplomatic show of dairy solidarity Cabot and the band can roll out special edition Nocturnal cheesehead gear for the event.
Sounds like it's going to be a great day-long party Bob, leading up to a supercharged night. Let us know how it turns out!

Haha! Didn't think of the Cabot Cheesehead ... great idea.
Between the game and the show, Think I might consume a bit much ... booked a hotel room downtown. No driving for this guy, just balls to the wall fun!!!!

Okay ... I think I have a better idea. Give me your thoughts ... insane or terrific?
Okay, this may be a little out of left field, but food for thought for Saturdays show in Milwaukee.
The Packers are playing a divisional playoff game at 7pm vs. Atlanta Falcons. What if the show was interwoven with the game. Maybe a big screen off to the side of the stage with the game on. With the game starting a 7pm, halftime should be around 8:30pm. Chamberlin is then the half time show. The Packer game comes back on, and then GPN comes on at the end of the Packer game around 10pm.
Maybe a little crazy, but I think it would be cool.
Insane idea or Terrific idea?

Totally insane. I know it's Green Bay and all and the Packers fans are pretty dedicated etc. but . . . if you're that interested in the football game stay home and watch the football game?
Bmoore the hotel room was a terrific idea. 1 out of 2 aint bad.
grab someones direct tv password, step up to an iphone, charge that suka up and u are in biz. u can watch the entire game in the palm of your hand and it should be over right around the time GPN starts.
but it might be over long before that if rodgers cant hang with hot 'lanta!
(im a blackberry guy myself, but...yeah, that is the way its done) ;-

According to the theater's facebook page the game will be on at the venue. I'm not really sure what that means since there aren't any tv's there normally. Being in Wisconsin it would not surprise me in the least to see some sort of screen/projector set up on one side or the balcony. I'll be there for the show only. I'm the only guy in Wisconsin that doesn't care about the Packers.

Don't get me wrong, I am there for the show, and that is my priority. I am a displaced east coast guy, so not a huge Packer fan, but the community gets caught up in it. I thought it would be a good way to potentially drive people into the venue as the date gets closer. As opposed to people wrestling with whether to see GPN, or watch the Packers.

There's a radio station contest to be at their live in-studio the afternoon of the show. I better be one of the 20 that gets picked damn it! This is the kinda thing that you should be able to show evidence of how long you've been schilling the band to everyone that would listen.

I just thought it might be a cool way to integrate both events and make for a special evening ... Packer game ... Chamberlin at halftime ... Packer second half ... GPN!!!!!!

For an example (literally) a little closer to home, I think many folks here would have an "oh crap" moment if a Sox / Yankees ALCS game 7 ended up landing on the same night as a Boston HOB show across the street. I feel for the Packer fans, but as Eric said, the game should wrap around showtime. Unlike E, I am thinking the local crowd are going to be in an even more festive mood around that time.

not sure what u meant by that last sentance or if that is based on what i wrote on the other thread but u must have misinterpreted that. i do not consider minneapolis to be in the northeast whatsoever and fully expect tonights show to be balls to the walls off the hook, especially the audience. and id be shocked if GPN starts before the game ends. this show will likely start and end late. enjoy! jealous...

I think Rodgers schooled them well down in the dirty south. cue Laverne and Shirley heading to the show right now, arm and arm: Schlemiel! Schliamezal! Hasenpfeffer Inc!

Our sold out Milwaukee show featured a joyous inebriated packer fan who stormed the stage + ripped off his Clay Matthews jersey #gracepacker

Grace did post a photo of the setlist for this show (http://plixi.com/p/70326606) . . Thank you, Grace !
the original plan was :
NBTW
Paris
---------
White Rabbit
Hot Summer Night
Stop The Bus
Don't know about anyone else, but I think it's fun to see if there are changes.
Interesting comment on this music VS man (http://musicvsman.com/2011/01/16/grace-potter-the-nocturnals-the-pageant-01-14-11/) blog . . . .
Unfortunately, the photo pit, one of the best perks of shooting at The Pageant, was closed off for the evening so that the band could set up some recording equipment.

What a great day it was!
I got the chance to attend their acoustic/interview performance hosted by 88.9 Milwaukee radio in the afternoon. very cool. Cat was the only one not in attendance. They played Medicine,Things I Never Needed, and Paris. Outstanding!
Huge Packer win ... Then a great GPN show. I finally got to see Lose Some Time live, and it didn't disappoint, a definite highlight. Oasis keeps getting better and better. Great crowd energy, and the encore smoked.
Thanks for another great day/evening GPN!

Aaaaand we're back....What a night. Great show as always. One thing I love the most about this band is how they consistantly bring it every night whether they are playing for 50 or 1000 people, with their home crowd or halfway across the country, new year's eve or a Monday in April. I honestly do not see how anyone could see one their shows and not leave a fan.
I must say I am quite proud of my town's turnout for last night's show. As the other guys from 'round these parts can attest, the streets of Wisconsin are populated by tumbleweeds and transplant Europeans during Packer games (by the by, it's my favorite time to go to the grocery store cause I have the place to myself). The place simply shuts down save for sports bars. Against the odds Turner Hall was sold out and rocking. At one point Chamberlin commented how the venue has the most 'character' of any venue they have played. The Pabst Theater group must really be commended for turning a half-burned ballroom into a legit music site. Many lifetimes ago I actually used to work in the attached restaurant and saw the holes in the floor before the venue opened. As a result I got quite nervous a few times when the crowd was united in their stomping.
I really dug the acoustic portion in the middle of the set going on this tour. This was the first show I had seen featuring that and Scott and Benny just sound great together. And who doesn't need a cool off break in the middle of the rocking? There are certain times you can see just how much the addition of the second guitar brings and this is one of them.
2:22 had never really done much for me live or on the record - until tonight. Driving on directly from Tiny Light, Grace channeled some sort of cross-pollination of Tina Turner and Albert King. The band absolutely killed it.
I'm glad to see Nothing But The Water return to the last-song-before-the-encore slot and to have the drum solo back. It's just awesome to watch people that you can tell are seeing the band live for the first time and I think it's easiest during this song. I can remember one show in Milwaukee (with about 50 in attendance) when the band opened with it and it's just not the same. It needs to be built up to.
Stop the Bus started the encore by request and wasn't originally part of the setlist. Grace made a point to mention that if you want to hear a specific song that she always gets tweets. Another song that has really grown with the addition of Benny and Cat in my opinion. Hot Summer Night seemed especially fitting here in Milwaukee and Paris ended the show with a good chorus of 'Ooh La La' from the crowd.
I've got some vacation time coming up in February and I'm seriously considering going on tour. I could see these guys play every night - although I don't know if my body could handle it.
One foot note: I found it odd that a security guard came up to me at one point and said no video was allowed, per the band's request. Seemed strange because A) since when? and B) I could have reached out and touched 5 others doing the same thing. It was just my iPhone, I'm not James Cameron. I got about 95% of Low Road before he asked me to cut it off and I'll post that when I get a chance. And no, that was not me with the Clay Matthews jersey.

Nice recap Zorak . . thank you
Have seen security people do the same thing - pick out one person and ignore the rest. Was flat out told by a woman at a seated venue that she had to make a sweep once or twice during the show and we were in the easiest area to get to - admired her honesty but . . . .
BTW . . I assume you know I was kidding about you being the shirt guy . . at least I hope the :D did it's job

We've never allowed video. Different venues have different levels of enforcement.

Zorak ... thanks for bringing back a great evening, nice video.
Ya know, I have been extremely busy lately, and forgot to post something about that night .... Chamberlin! I was awfully impressed with this band, and thoroughly enjoyed their set. A pleasant surprised. Downladed the free song on thisissomewhere.com, nice, but live is even better.
Be well ... Bob
