Brought to you in part by : Clear fluids, ice chips, bad stomach cramps, shilly chivers, shakes and a week's worth of Gastroenteritis.

Another couple of things: First, Don't shop at Best Buy. Bad customer service and I feel they ripped me off. & Second, Trade freely in uncompressed format only please. Karma's a bitch you wouldn't want me to wish on you what I had this last week.

Great show! Just what I needed. I had caught a bug and even up until show day I wasn't sure I was going to make it. Sure glad I did. I had a couple of extra tickets and offered them up to a friend of mine. He had heard of Grace from the internet but had never seen her live. We got there early, spent a few minutes in the Halo bar and made our way into the room when they opened the doors. They had opened the balcony up at the last minute but we decided to park our butts downstairs closer to the soundboard area. Sound is best by the board so they say. I had some carbonated water and just sat there. My buddy called shortly after 8 (I believe the opening band had already started) He was able to find someone to come with him. Cool. Would have been a shame to eat the ticket. My fellow beerman and his friend ordered round after round throughout the evening and seemed to enjoy themselves. We talk about music all the time and I had the feeling he would enjoy the show (that's why I asked him if he wanted the tickets). His birthday was the day after the show and I won't say how old he is but let's say he has been around long enough to have seen some good shows and listened to some good music throughout the years. If anybody would be able to give an objective opinion about this band from Vermont he would be the one to be able to give it. So, what did he think? I don't think it is a coincidence that by the time Grace hit the stage he had had a couple of frosty cold ones. Old saying goes that "the truth" is found somewhere between the third and seventh. You can hear him comment every now and then - keep in mind I knew I was recording and I was not soliciting them. "What a great opening number that was!" (>Ah Mary), "Hell of a song" (>Oasis), "nice band" (>Ragged Company) etc. I haven't told him that I'm putting this in here, but the best one of them all was watching him as he stood there perfectly still, mouth gaping wide open. Totally enraptured by what he was observing. Totally focused. Totally shocked and totally priceless. After the song he turns to me and says "Damn!" (>Joey)

My take? After Chamberlin, I asked the sound guy if he had a copy of the Set List. He said no. I then asked if he would have one for Grace and he said "maybe". That maybe turned out to be a yes and so I had a quick peek and sort of knew what was coming. I know I will get to love their new album as much as the others, but my dream set list would have included some oldies. I remember thinking : no "I've Been Watching You, Treat Me Right, Put Your Head Down, Stop The Bus, Some Kind of Ride or maybe White Rabbit"? I told my guys the first three songs would tear the floor up. The next hour or so of songs would be sort of the laid back part of the show but that starting with Tiny Light, the place was going to go nuts. Please kick me. Kick me hard. I was sooo wrong. The whole entire show rocked. The first three songs did indeed tear the floor up. But then the next three raised the roof, the few after that turned the place upside down and set it on fire. Then the place went crazy before it went totally nuts.
The audio does not do the show justice. You had to be there. My take? After NBTW I asked my friend, "...so what did you think?" My take on this show are an echo of the first three words you hear out of his mouth in response. Some artists say they enjoy playing in every city they play. And you know its just lip service. Either Grace is a damn good liar or she honestly loves playing here. I was there when she played to a much smaller crowd at Blueberry Hill just up the street (the clips from that show on youtube are mine) and she gave us a helluva show back then. All I can say is: Grace, if you are telling the truth, please come back soon because we love you too. And if you are not telling the truth, please come back soon and lie to us some more!

Great review looks like a great set. I'm getting tired of the Heart cover thing though. This band is way cooler than Heart, not to knock Heart but they always seemed wish they were Zeppelin to me. Must have been the time period when they were big too. I just never thought they were all that. Just my .02.
