everyone should check out the new G. Love album "Fixin to Die" which features the Avett Brothers as his backing band (no Special Sauce), and also the Avett Brothers produced the album. (i think they are touring together next fall)

im a fan of G Love, but I honestly have not given the Avette's much of a chance yet. but this album with the G, and a night w/the Nox on the Rox...they certainly have my attention now.

here's a cool Trailer with G, Scott, and Seth:

I'm not a huge fan of G love or his special sauce, however if the Avett Brothers are involved I will be forced to take another listen to G.

I was a big G. Love and Special Sauce fan for awhile about 3-4 years ago and traveled to see the band a number of times everywhere from Burlington to Nashville (actually flew to Nashville for the sole purpose of hearing G. do "Beautiful" live with Tristan Prettyman and got let in to see them rehearse it at sound check too - one of my happier non-GPN moments). With the line-up change and the switch to being an opening act on big tours for artists I didn't enjoy (Mraz, Jack Johnson) instead of headlining smaller clubs, I stopped following them. But this teaming with the Avett brothers seems like it might be just what G. needs to get back on track. I don't love the sound of this new stuff yet, but as I mentioned in another thread, the Avetts' sound was an acquired taste for me and something I've had to put some effort into appreciating so I suspect the same would apply here. G. Love is a great musician and performer so I think I'd enjoy this a lot more live. Wonder if he'll make the festival rounds this summer and perform with the Avetts.

Trish:

I hear you about the Avett Brothers sound being like moss. I wanted to not enjoy it at first, but the more I let my ears do the work I fell for their brand of tunes. I'm excited to see what they'll do to his sound.

Well- I will try to get familiar with Avett Bros. What they play on the radio is OK but it's soft/folkie. I just can't fathom Avett Bros. following all that GPN explosive energy at Red Rocks.

GPN is getting almost equal billing in promotion. I would be sweet if they could each play a full 2 hour set.
