It was the end of May last year that I first heard of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. 3 weeks later I saw my first show in Cincinnati Ohio. Since then I have seen them in Louisville KY, Nashville TN (Twice), and Covington KY. Now, I have tickets to the Louisville, Knoxville, Chicago and Indianapolis shows. YIKES! I think it is that every show is different and even if they had the set list at every show, the songs still take on a life of their own each time.

If an intervention is necessary, then all of us here would also be with you - and I dare say that that would be one hell of a group - fun and great people :) Have a blast at all those shows!

Sign me up too, then! I saw them for the first time in Raleigh last summer, and now I'm gearing up to get nocced for the tenth time this weekend. I'm going to the Pisgah Brewery, Myrtle Beach, and Raleigh shows on this upcoming tour. My friends all think I've lost it...until I take them to a show!

Everyone is just fine. If you can keep it to under 30 show's a year you should be just fine. Right Van ?

haha, nice to know im going to be ok. vail next friday will by my 20th noc show in less than 12 months, in 8 different states. id have went to 2 more also if they were booked earlier and didnt conflict with plans that were already made for the allmans shows at the beacon. i also almost made st. mikes and boston recently, but niether was in the cards.

and yes my friends all think im crazy as well. too bad anytime i bring any of them to a noc show i miss the opening act, which more times than not is pretty epic. and so i must make that choice repeadedly...for the benefit of friends and for the band, do i go out of my way to bring others along that make me late? or do i just rok another solo mission and grace my face to the maximum extent practicable? still trying to figure that one out.

so 30 a year is the max recommended dose for a noc show? i'll keep that in mind

I think that Trish girl is starting to give John and Van a run for their money. Surely on a 30 or more per year clip.

I wish I was going at that pace, but not quite! Maybe I'll make it my goal for my total number of shows to reach my age by the end of the year. Anyone wanting to argue that it's not much of a goal because I've already surpassed 29 is free to say so. :)

Trish - missed you in Providence (my 32nd)

GPN is a drug. Sometimes you need a fix. Many times your craving! You always want more.

Maybe there should be a punch card: After 20 shows you get a box of those chocolates.

Wish I'd been in RI, too, Jackie! Hope to see you soon! :D

Charles - I think after twenty shows- you just want to buy that box of chocolates and get yourself to the next show, I did stop counting my shows after 20 by the way. The reward is in the show itself and the energy and passion these musicians bring and give back to us. After 20 shows, I'm actually beyond expecting the band to "give" me anything, cuz I know they give their all every single time they take the stage.

That's just me of course, and having said all that - its still amazing to be given a smile of recognition, greeting or whatever personal touch these cool cats do when they can.

OK- I counted my GPN shows during the past two years and came up with 7, all in Colorado, and I have missed several other Colorado shows since getting into GPN, due to conflicts. Still, not a bad number considering I don't live in the Northeast, but more a tribute to GPN's relentless touring. I am impressed by GPN's energy and stamina, and it's great they continue to be Grac-ious and appear to get along so well in their magic tour bus.

there ya go - that's what it's all about. By the way - I do appreciate that away from the northeast and perhaps that southern swing to NOLA it's not easy to rack up GPN shows as much as you'd like. This however seems like it might be more of a thing of the past - on the tour schedule this year - they are pretty much all over the map and not just hanging near where I can get to!!

Me, too - had two shows in 7 days just recently and now want more! Thank goodness for the archives - great for getting a mini-fix while working.

We are lucky this band tours as much as they do ... it keeps the drug coming!

Seriously, we are lucky! This band just keeps hitting the road, playing some great venues, with great energy ... can't wait for my next fix ... HOB in Chicago, can't come fast enough!

probably the single worst part of living in Arizona is that SO many bands pass us up for SoCal and/or Las Vegas. Lucky I guess we have caught GPN here in Az 6 times since 2007, and last year at the Waterfront was a fantastic weekend getting to meet so many of you!
ok - one thing worse than the lack of touring bands thru Az - the political climate is SO far right we're often embarrassed about it. c'est la vie!

I've met a few of you die-hard fans @ the shows, always makes me feel better when, later, my friends tell me for the umpteenth time that they don't understand why I keep seeing these bands (mostly DMB & GPN). I am hitting several shows this year, hope to meet some more of this group.

Rogue, I've had a few friends tell me that my excessive following of this band seems a little crazy. If this is crazy, bring it on! I am the happiest crazy person I know.

Have fun at your shows this summer. Might run into you one of these days since I have a sister in Chatt and we sometimes plan our visits around music!

That reminds me I have to buy a powerball before I head down to the concert tonight (I think its over 100 Million) I'd have to throw a big party with GPN playing. You'd all be invited!

Laughing, best summed up by Dylan - "Seems everybody's been having these dreams.... I'll let you be in my dream if I can be in yours..."

We want more too! Next week will be our second show this year. And we are flirting with the idea of two more later this summer. My husband can't get enough of the live music online. It is so wonderful!!! Tuesday - Louisville - almost here! Whoot!

It would be amazing to hit the lotto. I think one of the first things I would do would be to buy a tour bus, Hire a driver and follow my favorite music around the country for a number of years. Video and tape everything, do interviews on my bus and then write a book. If I had unlimited money and didn't have to work, you better believe I would be following GPN for many tours.
