January, 1982: WIth nothing but an acoustic guitar, harmonica, and a 4-track cassette recorder, Bruce Springsteen recorded an American folk masterpiece. Now, 30 years later, a new generation of songwriters pay tribute to 'Nebraska'...

I know a bunch of folks on this record. Trust me, it will be good. Hope you longtime Bruce fans enjoy. This is a teaser looking at a September release.

    Re: Bruuuuuuuuce!!

just got around to checking out the "official" cut of this (Drive All Night) a short time ago -

    two thoughts -
    1) the usual "this guy's deep, forgotten cuts still blow away 99.9 percent of what 99.9 percent of other popular songwriters have produced." (yeah, I'm biased and prone to hyperbole)
    and
    2) Forget Mike Trout - Jake Clemons is hands down Rookie of the Year here in 2012.

Well, have not been on here much...Bruce is definitely taking up too much of my time! Rocked in Fenway for Night 2, can't wait for Philly -- 2 nights...I'll be a walking zombie and now have tix for Dylan in Port Chester NY the night I get back, which I just found out are standing GA tickets too!

    The Streets of Philadelphia...

Sunday night, September 2. The computer hiccuped back in April, so we're sitting behind home plate, but we're there.

    Tenth Avenue Freezeout...

Friday, September 14, Nationals Park. GA hoping for the pit.

My last show was my best of all time (BtoR in its entiret, including C's last live Jungleland solo). We'll see how these are...

I'm there 9-2 & 9-3. My friend and I just started talking about maybe DC...she just went to Toronto! Fenway was a blast! Enjoy the shows!

Damn, wish I had posted my extras here. I had a pair on the field for SUN 9/2, SEC B ROW 23. Great seats on the field. Alas, they've been sold.

I was thinking about that Baltimore 2009 show (BTR, final Jungleland) on Saturday as I saw the first 2012 North American Jungleland in Foxboro over the weekend. Privileged to have been at both. Jake has really improved and gained a ton more confidence since I saw him last in April (not that he needed much improvement anyway).

I have no reason to doubt that as long as the E-Streeters stay healthy, they'll be rocking another 10 years at least. Especially with Jay Weinberg waiting in the wings to take over for his dad. Who else has a physically demanding job on E Street? All the guitarists can sit on stools if needed while Bruce continues to prowl the entire stadium a-la Mick Jagger. I'm hoping 76 Bruce shows for me is merely the half-way point.

    Re: Bruuuuuuuuce!!

Nowhere near 76; I grew up "poor" in Oklahoma, so not a lot of cash, and not many Springsteen shows. These will put me at either 9 or 10 (I think 10, but probably need to look at the show archives...). We were actually in London, staying near Hyde Park, the week of Hard Rock Calling, but our cruise left at 5:00 p.m. on the day Bruce played...

Took guts on both Bruce and Jake to do Jungleland; I figured it was off the playlist, but then again, I never dreamed he'd turn Tenth Avenue into a tribute song.

    Can't wait!

(Oh, and does anyone know anything about parking in Philly; they sold garage parking at Nat's Stadium at the same time they sold tickets.)

    Re: Bruuuuuuuuce!!

There's a TON of parking at the sports complex in Philly - cost appears to be $15:

Some friends of mine will be setting-up a huge tailgate party, with a DJ. It'll only be on SUN 9/2 starting at Noon (!!). In Lot E between the Wells Fargo Center and Lincoln Financial Field. I probably won't get down there until 4pm or so.

Ends September 3rd, at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia...

    We may go there first!

Indeed - we saw the exhibit at the R&R HoF in Cleveland a couple years ago. Definitely worth visiting if you're already in Philly. We'll be doing a duck-boat tour in Philly, followed by cheesesteak & roast pork sandwiches somewhere (probably Tony Luke's).

Haven't got that far in the planning...

Probably staying south of town to have a head start on Labor Day traffic on Monday (I have reservations downtown, but I'd be paying for parking and still probably have to drive to the stadium). That kind of limits options...

    Re: Bruuuuuuuuce!!

So, last night's show in Philly may have been the best I've seen! Bruce and the band were on, dove deep early (Sherry Darling, Lost in the Flood), and brought it. They're really bringing Jake along. I didn't catch the arena part of the tour, but my understanding is they were really trying not to pull him out too much, but last night he did at least one "back to back", "C" style, out front, and came out for some great sax. Just under 4 hours! If they'd played "Jungleland," it would have been perfect.

For the Bruce fans who don't want to look it up, last night:

    Set List

    Summertime Blues
    Out in the Street
    Sherry Darling
    Hungry Heart
We Take Care of Our Own
    Wrecking Ball
    Death to My Hometown
    Lost in the Flood
    My City of Ruins
    Spirit in the Night
    Good Rockin' Tonight
    Cadillac Ranch
    I'm On Fire
    Candy's Room
    She's the One
    Jack of All Trades
    Human Touch
    Working on the Highway
    Shackled and Drawn
    Waitin' on a Sunny Day
    Jersey Girl
    The Rising
    Badlands
    Land of Hope and Dreams

    Encore

    We Are Alive
    Thunder Road
    Born to Run
    Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)
    Dancing in the Dark
    Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
    You Can't Sit Down
    Twist And Shout

    Re: Bruuuuuuuuce!!

Two spectacular nights in Philly. Night 2 started-out with a 5-pack from Darkness, including Streets Of Fire (been chasing that song for years, finally got it!). He also did a very beautiful version of The River for a woman w/ a sign who wanted to hear it for her husband in Afghanistan. They showed her & her reaction to the song throughout most of the song on the video screens. It was very moving. Oh yeah, Jungleland didn't suck either.

Between 5 stadium shows in Boston, Foxboro & Philly over the past 3 weeks, I saw 148 total songs, 74 of them unique. Of those 74, 41 of them were one-offs. Getting back into the real world today really sux.

Rub it in! Pretty happy with the first night's show, and there's no way we could have made the second anyway!

We're GA for the 14th, and just hoping real life gets us there at the right time for the pit...

    (and hoping for Jungleland!)

    Re: Bruuuuuuuuce!!

Looking ahead 24 hours to the end of a what I'm sure will be a great show!

Now, my beloved Nats have done their best to make the show as complicated as possible! The GA "rules" finally came out at around 3:00 today, and the parking garages aren't opening until 2 1/2 hour after they start handing out wristbands...

But, it's the Boss, and I'm psyched!
