    VH1 - 100 Greatest Women in Music

And your Grace Potter checks in at #97.

Based on twitter remarks, some people feel this is an insult and that she should be rated higher. I was just excited to see her being recognized.... again.

Went looking for the list. Not what I expected ... but then again I don't get out in the real world much.

I was enraged, but then Orianthi didn't even rank, and she has got a whole generation of young female guitar players inspired and has fans all over the world.

I'm happy to see Grace on the list, and not the last one. There is some pretty good company surrounding her name.

Sad to see Whitney Houston at number 6 - really, top of the heap, when you consider the first five - and now gone too soon.

Re: VH1 - 100 Greatest Women in Music

I realized this list is much easier to understand when I remember that in a VH1/mainstream context the word "greatest" really translates to something more along the lines of "most recognizable" or "best known" or "most popular" in terms of the younger pop culture audience. Looking at it from that perspective, it's really quite an honor and accomplishment for Grace to be on this list.

Very interesting translation on this list Trish which leads me to ask this guestion.

In 10 years what woman will be the "most recognizable" or "best known" or "most popular" in terms of the younger pop culture audience?"

Good question. I'm going to say "no one knows," and that person is not out of high school yet.
