There is a contest on GPNs Facebook page if anyone is goin to be in nyc on Monday afternoon/evening and wants to attend the filming of storytellers. Thanks for the update guys! I just sent in my request. I'd take the day off and catch the train. Keeping my fingers crossed! Even though I'm friended on their Facebook page, I didn't know about it. They didn't share the story, so I guess this is a lesson learned and I should check their Facebook page more often.

and the new Facebook is kinda whakky. i dont think everyone sees the same thing when they go to a bands page. its geared toward you & your fb friends now...your posts/activity/history...and apparently also your location. so if you are outside NY, you might not see that post about Storytellers in NY. The same thing happened on Norah Jones' FB page (a couple of us are also going to her Storytellers filming which is this saturday)
Eric - I sure hope we all get to see each other there! Let me know if you hear anything too. My cell is broken - I can get phone calls but the bulb doesn't light up and I can't see text messages (yeah - I know, time for a new phone). If they send confirmation by text, I could be screwed!

If VH-1 posted the offer on the 20th and GPN FB posted on 25th, I wonder if it wasn't already filled up by then? Damn.
We are waiting for the Norah Jones taping to start, and they just started playing Paris on the PA!
Jules - Did you seriously get into a Norah Jones taping too? I only count you and Eric as confirmed going today and that's it! What time does it start? We're depending on you two for a play by play -- you lucky dogs! Now go play and have some fun for the rest of us!
Norah's Storytellers taping was a lot of fun. if u ever get the chance to go see Norah sing live definately do it. simply put, her voice is just amazing. i admit i have been spoiled over the past year in seeing her perform several times, in several configurations and mostly pretty intimate settings. Storytellers was like a rehersal/soundcheck/studio recording session. the band played several songs 2 or even 3 times over, a couple times at the request of the filming crew and a couple times the band just wanted to. they stopped several times and Norah told a few storiess about what the songs were about in between songs. the crew came onstage and touched up her make up and the cameras took close ups. a few times we had obstructerd views from the cams, but just for scattered moments. overall we were golden. kinda off to the side but the whole thing was very intimate. maybe 100-200 people. they said there was also an hour interview backstage. a few of the stories were really cool and a few others have already been documented on previous interviews/videos, and she def left a lot out but its cool to get a peek inside a songwriters head for a few tunes. Norah typically does not have much to say other than dirty jokes and one liners, which they referenced several times but said they were too dirty to tell for TV. i think they will take a couple stories from the stage, some banter with the audience and the interviews backstage and make a great show. what we saw was very much "production," everyone standing around half the time. including us...lots of standing and waiting, followed by sitting for the whole thing. obviously worth it but not ideal circumstances. there was talk of the Grace Storytellers and maybe having people stand in the back for that one, but im not sure what we overheard. to be honest i kinda expect the GPN one to be much more just like a regular GPN show. she is always good for a story or 2 and the nocs are super tight. so i guess we'll see. one thing im looking forward to for sure is seeing Libramento on bass! that dude is the crazy.
so dont expect too much of a report for the GPN filming. i dont think any of us want to ruin the broadcasting of the show! will be cool to compare the live taping with the finished product, but we will let Grace (and Norah) be their own storytellers.
to Jackie and everyone else, they really were just looking for NYC/locals to fill the open audience spots.

Wow is pretty much all I can say. Have fun watching the show and I hope that one of us can one day somehow get our hands on the full unedited video of the filming. It will def be heavily edited for the broadcast. The nocs played a face melter and Grace told long detailed stories before every song. It was unreal! I am at a loss for words and just happy part of it will be on tv
