Re: Jon Graboff, Bill Sims, Jr Mac

I went and saw this show last night, John Grabbof was amazing. He has got a great jazz band type quartet and the stand up bass player (Chris Morrisey) was also unreal. Sometimes it is just great to see instrumental music. there was not one vocal mic onstage. If you ever get the chance to see John Grabbof on pedal steel, with or without Ryan Adams and the Cardinals- DO IT!

The second band Sky White Tiger was also great. They have thier own unique sound which was like a grunge/metal rock crossed with a calypso keyboard type thang. sorta like a Ronnie James Dio crossed with Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam, crossed with Jerry Joseph's Little Women, if you can follow all that. In short, I was instantly made a fan!

The third band, Noontide, featured the legend Bill Simms, whos real name is Bill Simms Jr, causing a bit of confusion on this end, and so Jr Mac was not in this band. They were great as Simms always is, but I like some of his other lineups better. I left after 3 songs since i had to work today.

I still cannot believe GPN played in this "room" back in April, it is smaller than the Belly Up or anything else. I will just cut right to the chase-the Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 is the size of your average living room! If u saw pix of GPN with tables and candle votives in front of the stage-u r looking at the entire venue! (and Stage 1 right next door is the size of your kitchen).

Got 2 luv NYC all 3 of thee shows were free as was GPN on Thurs
